“And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the Lord: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.” LEVITICUS 6:7

f a soul sin, if a soul swear, if a soul touch any unclean thing…and if he be not able to bring a lamb…Before your presence we ask to be this day, oh Lord, receive us in your bosom. Let us drink from your love, and gain understanding. We wish to live according to your Word. Lead us to love as you love.
Our shortcomings are not a surprise to God. Yet bring a sin offering to the anointed priest hints that repentance must come before anything else, a contrite spirit before the Lord. Acknowledging our sins is the first step in forgiveness. Not the sins of others, but our sins. If we say “Lord, look what they have done,” we are still away from healing. How else to restore our most intimate relationships if not on the grounds of honesty and transparency, humility and hope? And that applies to our relationship with the person in the mirror as well.
Sin. Repent. Bring an offering. Sin. Repent. Bring an offering. Sin. Repent. Bring an offering. Without the High Priest, this routine turns into a vicious cycle in our lives. The atonement is more than a statement of love manifested in the flesh of Jesus Christ. Without the cross our faith is a void, a piece of art worth looking at, yet not a radical movement. Teach without love and all you imprint is a teaching. Love, and your teaching is never forgotten. Bring your sin offering to the anointed priest. His name is Jesus Christ.
