Seeking God in EXODUS

“And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.” EXODUS 13:21

hat a reminder of God’s care for His children! Day and night He is mindful of the vicissitudes of our journey. Let us never take for granted the generous divinity that snatches us from the grip of darkness. Our Lord knows the afflictions of our soul. He understands our needs even before we define them in words. How long will we doubt His providence? How long will we question His unending love? How long before we kneel in His presence?

The powerful distractions in this world often manage to keep us away from God. We become tangled up with our family situations, work responsibilities, and personal ambitions. Our lives at times feel like particles of dust caught in an existential vacuum. Yet something within us longs for the quiet moments of prayer before our Lord; something powerful enough to loosen the bonds that steer our attention away from God. And while at times all we can do is believe in faith that somehow the messes in our lives turn out alright, we can always trust that He is with us… a cloud by day, a light by night.

Most of us don’t always have the luxury of a smooth path. Actually no one alive ever does; at least not 100% of the time. Life can be challenging enough to bring anyone to his or her knees. Nonetheless, our hope remains in Him. Jesus is our redemption even in these present hurdles. He reminds us that in Him we have peace.
