Seeking God in PHILIPIANS

“I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: Every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.” PHILIPIANS 4:12

S

ometimes we read the Bible and find a verse that sounds like a promise. We wish we were there yet, but we are not. We are still stuck in the mud of the flesh, looking up, longing for the light. We still endure our tribulations grumbling, instead of praising. How many bears will we fight on our own strength, before we let God in? He is in already; we just need to realize it. We are not alone, after all, and He will finish what He started in us. How long will we strive against circumstances He engineered to put us in, to our profit? Paul certainly was not born knowing how to be hungry. He must have cried desperately for his mother’s milk. We are instructed by God, we learn as we walk towards His loving embrace. There is a transformation going on right now within you, a metamorphosis of sorts. No, you are not turning into a self-righteous vermin; rather, you are turning into a brook of love.

Today, as you walk in the Spirit of the living God, let trust in Christ be your garment. Instruct yourself to let go of anxiety and fear. Trust Him. Learn to fill every hungry aspect of your being with His presence. Be renewed by prayer and thanksgiving. Rest in Him who reached into the deepest chambers of your soul, and gently called you: His own.
