“To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”2 TIMOTHY 1:2

e approach the throne of grace overwhelmed by the majesty of God. His presence alone is all we need. There is no true life away from Him…only a stupor, a state of stubborn delusion. We approach the throne of grace not because we deserve it, for we are like wild beasts in love with something pure. And I wish I could find better words, for He is like rain in an arid land. But His purity draws us in, every day a little closer. And our layers of darkness begin to fade away.
How to resist the tender voice who calls us my dearly beloved, while we live in a rude, unmerciful world? How to resist the Spirit of truth while it softly comforts us in our afflictions, strengthens us during our trials, and brings us the gift of inner peace?
Jesus Christ is more than the historical figure that atheist mock. Jesus Christ does not need generations of self-centered semi-rational men and women to support His cause. Jesus Christ does not need us to follow Him. When Paul writes about being a prisoner of the gospel, he is really talking about being captured by a love so profound, so personal and unmistakably real that his heart melts away.
Open your heart…let Him in. Amen.
