“And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
EXODUS 3:11
When God calls our name to fulfill a purpose, we seldom react different than Moses. Our flesh rebels against the sign of divinity. Our worldliness does not comprehend the nature of a task that seems bigger than life. Surely God has lost His mind when he trusts someone like me. This is absurd. I am not good enough; do not have what it takes. Wallowing in the mud of our lack of faith, we argue with the Holy Spirit.
God seldom chooses those who have a ‘pick-me’ attitude. He summons the one whose self-esteem has been shattered, the spirit humbled after many trials of life. Why is it that we waste precious time trying to convince the Almighty that we are not the one for the job? His Word is sufficient; His command, evidence that we are fit for the task. Insurmountable! We think. Yet the Holy Spirit does not consider the obstacles before us, only the nature of His power working through us. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
When we do not know who we are in Christ, not remembering with every fiber of our being that we are His hand in action, we fail. We focus on the difficulty of the steps instead of the identity of the One who sent us. Who am I? Let us settle that question now, and forever: child of the Most High.
The Holy Spirit continues to whisper about the assignment entrusted to us. Jesus kneels and says, thine will be done, thus teaching by example. God is patient. He walks us through the process. Unbelief turns into faith; faith encourages action; action results in Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
