“And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statue for ever unto them throughout their generations.”
LEVITICUS 17:7
Before the Lord Jesus Christ came into our lives, spirits of darkness abided in us, breaking havoc in our minds. They led us to stray in the paths of destruction. After receiving the blood of the Lamb, the Holy Spirit begins to work by giving us an understanding of God’s laws. The pruning that follows may take hours, or years. Things we gladly did before, now cause our insides to rumble. Our eyes are opened to recognize evil lurking behind some area of our lives, undetected if not by God. Truth brings our affairs to light, breaking unholy alliances, demolishing strongholds, shifting paradigms.
Revelation upon revelation, we experience a new freedom from the burdens we used to carry. We might even reach a state when our humanity tells us we are clean. Yet, as the spirit of truth continues to guide us, we discover our hands are still filthy with pride, resentment, and idolatry. Jesus then will turn all the tables in our temple. Corruption cannot stand in His presence. Sanctification is a revolution in our spirit. Nothing except His nature will remain untouched.
Welcome God’s standard. What is beautiful in the eyes of men, He abhors. Learn to seek Him, ask Him to purify your heart, your mind; surrender your will in His loving hands. When the process hurts, pray to Him in humility, give Him thanks for considering you worthy of His salvation. No artist reveals a masterpiece until it is finished. Let God do the work in you as your lips sing songs of praise. Return no more to the devils that held you captive. No one in this world cares for you as Jesus does. Trust Him and Him only. Bring yourself before the throne of His grace, forever and ever. Amen.
