Seeking God in NUMBERS

“Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD.” NUMBERS 14: 37

In your personal walk to the Promised Land, learn to pay no attention to evil reports. The distinguishing quality of Joshua and Caleb was their absolute faith in God. Instead of seeing giants dwelling in a fortified land, they saw an opportunity to witness God’s hand of favor upon the Israelites. The fate of those who planted fear and doubt among the people, remind us to never focus on the “strength” of our enemies, but to remain firm in the word of the Lord.

The Lord is with us. His intention is to bring us a blessing. As we travel through the wilderness, His wisdom reveals each of our subsequent steps. Abiding in Him, we learn His ways. Today he reminds us to bring a plague upon evil reports that sprout in our minds. When men bring word contrary to what the Lord said, slay their influence with the sword of truth. Keep yourself from their company, lest they pollute you with their presence.

The Lord gave you an instruction? Diligently pursue it! Grumblings turn a quick journey to success into a lifetime of failure. Listen to Him, and Him only. You know His voice. Open the Holy Scriptures and read out loud what He says about your situation. Fix your mind, your emotions, and your actions on the power given you through Christ Jesus. Faith sustains you. Let no evil report move you that rises to contradict the word of the Lord in your life. Always remember what He did to those who brought it to the children of Israel. Victory belongs to those who trust in Him and charge ahead, in spite of the circumstances around them.
