Seeking God in ESTHER

“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” ESTHER 4:14

M

ordecai had an unshakable confidence in God’s plan to liberate the Jews. He knew that even if Esther missed her calling, another solution would manifest. He trusted the Lord despite not seeing an alternative way for His hand to move on their behalf. Not merely deliverance, but increase: a bold faith we need to capture in our spirit when we long to become good and faithful servants. Unlike Mordecai, we shift our focus from the ultimate Deliverer, and cling to human vessels for aid. Or rely on “sophisticated” plans rooted on our flesh, rather than the Spirit. We fret before a challenge instead of seeking God by praise, prayer and fasting.

Surrender to the Lord is essential, to heal and overcome. Esther had tasted the bitterness of losing her parents, her support system. When life shook the very foundation she stood on, discouragement could have haunted the rest of her days. Instead, the Lord raised Mordecai on her behalf, a faithful man who escorted her to the fulfillment of her destiny. God does not need a band of supporters galvanizing us. In Esther’s life, only one man was sufficient. All the events of our lives might lead to a divine climax. Our moment awaits us, and we must be ready. Mordecai recognized Esther’s moment, and laid out her options before her: to remain comfortable and do nothing, thus destroying her father’s house, or to rise up and use her strategic position to help God’s people. Right now you may be facing a crossroad. Will you say yes to God?
