“Behold that which I have seen; it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.” ECCLESIASTES 5:18

verything we are and everything we have comes from God. Unbelievers place their trust in the things of this world, only to be caught in a maze of activity to hide from their empty heart. The divine Wisdom of Solomon assures us that the mere pursuit of wealth is meaningless, for as a man came into this world, so shall he leave. And what profit hath he that hath labored for the wind? Therefore, the author reminds us that it is good to enjoy our labor, and its fruits. All things in moderation, eating and drinking shall make our souls rejoice also. This is the destiny God has given us, and incredible joy awaits us as we travel on His path.
Someone said that the two most important days in our lives are the day we are born, and the day we discover why. Man endures bitterness and anguish simply because he refuses to find his purpose, he refuses to stir the gifts of God stored within him. And there is nothing sadder than a talented individual who has settled for an occupation only to pay the bills. Boiling inside that person, the calling of destiny will never cease to grieve for the aborted ideal.
As fish are made for the water and cows for pasture, each human being was built for a specific purpose. If you are among the ones who took their time to find their mission in life, and are doing it, enjoy the ride. Ecclesiastes says this life is but a vapor, learn to taste each precious day as a gift from the Lord. In the end, the journey is all we have left; the people we helped along the way, the love we shared, and the unforgettable moments we had in His presence.
