“And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.” 2 SAMUEL 7:9

h Lord our God, listen to this prayer. Let wisdom rest in this heart, let her fill this mind with understanding that your child may find light in the midst of darkness, hope in the midst of despair. I cry unto you like your servant David, and lift up your name because of the wonders of your love towards your children. Silence the torment of fear and the calm the storm of uncertainty; for your name’s sake, let thy child dwell in perfect peace. Amen.
Great men pray. David was a man of war and a man of prayer. In the Scriptures we find him either slaying enemies or seeking the Lord. And while it may seem like a contradiction, Carl Jung reminds us that, “one cannot live without inconsistency.” Even when our heart is at peace before Yahweh, faith does not spare us from the responsibilities of personal agency. Seeking God does not lift us up in a cloud where we are free from the common ailments of mankind.
Let us pray…
Lord I praise you this day, for you give me life to study your Word, thirst to be in your presence, and an infinite longing for the Most High. Let your light shine through this life of mine, like it did through David and Samuel, and allow this humble testimony to lead many souls to your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
