Seeking God in LUKE

“And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.” LUKE 17:6

O

ur culture obsesses with magnitude. People strive to possess more of everything, to hold impressive titles and to be somebody in a land populated by "nobodies". Jesus shifts our mind and implies that less is more than enough. To the eyes of men, what can be more insignificant than a grain, a seed? But the kingdom of God grows as we plant and nourish one seed at a time. Our testimonies, our time, our acts of love in the lives of others are like tiny candles illuminating the path towards God. Never despise the value of a seed.

As we move from being full of self unto being in Christ, and the journey strips much of what we previously considered part of our identity, we are partnering with almighty God in a mission of sowing and reaping. We build His kingdom seed after seed. Every effort counts. Consider the strength we draw from just a few simple words that Jesus planted in our lives: My peace I give to you. Our actions need not be grandiose, nor our testimony impressive for God to orchestrate a significant impact. Even what we consider tiny faith can lead many to salvation.

Before the Lord called my name years ago, I was like a boat stranded in the ocean, battered storm after storm. Once He stepped on board, gentle as a tiny seed of hope, He grabbed hold of my heart, and stabilized my steering wheel. Instead of going through life shifting directions in a frantic effort to reach ever-changing ports, for the first time I listened...truly listened to the divine instruction beckoning from within. And what a difference His seed has made!
