Seeking God in 2 THESSALONIANS

“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.” 2 THESSALONIANS 3:16

P

eace in the midst of trouble and uncertainty. Peace when all hell is breaking loose. Peace when those who afflict us arise from every corner, giving us no room to breathe. Peace when the fiery furnace is still on, and He does not deliver us yet. Peace when work is high as a mountain and our efforts seem not to make it move. Peace when God remains silent and we yet must endure the test. Peace when scorn, lawlessness, and pride threaten to take over our days. Peace while offenses and threats are thrown our way. Peace. We cannot get it unless the Lord of peace gives it to us. Such is our hope in Him; and our surrender is based in it. Without Him we are the branch that withers and dies, the one fit for destruction.

Hold your peace. Labor in hopes that today is the day of deliverance. For deliverance might not arrive as a saving hand. Perhaps all you need is this shift of mind. This knowing beyond all doubt that God is for you, and that right now He is working behind the scenes. You are His masterpiece. Should the Sistine Chapel tell Michelangelo how to use the brush? Should the creature assume that what little consciousness it has of itself and the world far outweigh the value of God’s judgments. Trust in Him means that we surrender to His will although He is taking us out of our comfort, out of our safety net. He is calling us higher. Peace.
