“And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.” RUTH 1:16
We arrive at a crossroad in life. Death takes over the past, but hope rises in the future. The situation demands a choice. Will we remain in the ashes of a time that has ended, or will we move on with our Maker? Some people choose to depart, and others to stay. The promise of new circumstances sustains us while our spirit grieves, and moans. As long as we have a beating heart, we must learn to let go, and go forth. Easy? Not for a moment, yet Christ said to trust Him, and not let our heart be troubled.
Ruth did not have much in life. A mother-in-law might not be what many consider an ideal family. But this is what the Lord gave her. And time proved that it was enough. Naomi embraced her, and under her loving guidance Ruth arrived to a position of blessing in the Lord. Examine your life for a moment; is there death and destruction all around you? Is there nothing left except a dream, or even one person? Can you read the underlying message in the story of this humble Moabitess? Can you believe this is the seed God uses to bless you?
Little is much when the Lord is involved. Do not let “little” discourage you. Learn God’s ways, how He moves, what He does in the lives of those who love Him. Surrender, and taste His goodness. He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servant, the Word says. Move on, today, confident that He will never forsake you. The Valley of Shadows is not the final destination. There is a new life awaiting you as He takes you from glory to glory. Amen.
