Seeking God in ISAIAH

“For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than he can wrap himself in it.” ISAIAH 28:20

D

id you ever examined your life and discovered a parched land? Living without the Lord is like a blind man driving a car, he may survive here and there, but eventually, he will crash. For some people disaster turns into a blessing, for at this moment they acknowledge God; yet others persist in their stubborn ignorance, unaware that they are in a futile battle against the wind. The Lord would spare us the wounds, if only we would listen to His instruction. How many failures does it take to realize we cannot succeed on our own, and be whole? For even when we find personal success, if we are not in right standing before God, we enjoy no peace.

What happens, then, when our bed is short and our cover narrow? How do we react when our bank account runs low and there are no rivers of provision in sight? Our first temptation is to stop trusting Him, to listen to the voices of doubt instead of the Word of truth. Will we also question His love, open our mouth, and sin? Jesus did not. When they stretched His body on the cross, he submitted. See, it is easy to trust God when things are going well. Tough times reveal the depth of our faith. Will we run to the world for cover from the hand of our good Lord? Or will we run to the garden and cry out to Him? These enemies you face: lack, oppression, and slaughter are here to test your character before God. Heed to His instruction and soon you will taste His deliverance. Cling to His abundant mercy. Fix your heart on Him. This is comfort living.
