“I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.” HOSEA 11:4
Even when we transgress against the Lord, His everlasting love for us does not change. He draws us oh so gently. The real fishnet of Jesus’ disciples was their testimony of the truth, testimony of Jesus paying the highest price for our redemption. The bands of love remind us of God’s infinite mercy as He molds us while we grow in faith. He provides spiritual milk in our infancy while revealing Himself little by little as He reaches the foundation of our heart. He is a husband to some, a physician to many, the most loyal companion, and a father to all. Is it not natural that our love for Him swells as bread in the oven? Yet our tendency to backslide and follow the ways of the world continues to compromise the relationship. How much disloyalty would you tolerate from a human partner? Would not your spirit groan if those whom you love turned away from you time after time?

How do we break old ties unless our trust in Him is stronger than anything the world offers? How do we transform ourselves into perfect friends that seek nothing but His presence? We do not. We ask the Holy Spirit to do it in us. We shut the door and pray, praising Him for being loyal to us even after we deserted His ways. We advance one day at a time, towards the Promised Land, learning to fast from everything that contradicts the living waters of His Word. The fight of faith is a lot about subtracting. Stripping ourselves from a lifetime of bad habits, physical, spiritual and financial, is a task better left in His Hands. Wake up and seek Him early. Seek Him in the morning. Seek Him in the evening. Remember the love that awoke you from the slumber of dead living.
