Seeking God in 2 PETER

"For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning." 2 PETER 2:20

A

s long as we are alive in this tent we are at peril of drifting away from God. Not because we would want to. In the world we shall have tribulation, our Lord said. And sometimes tribulations in fact overwhelm us, unless we are firmly rooted in the Word, and diligently seek the presence of God. Pray without ceasing, that your treasures are indeed in the kingdom of heaven. And never trust the pollutions of this world. Remember that they tend to disguise themselves in allure and glitter. Entanglement seldom occurs in an instant. Nourish your faith so that there are no openings through which corruption may creep back into your life. Receive discernment from the Holy Ghost so that you can test the spirits before they are given a chance to harm you, or your precious faith.

Surrounded by thieves, living in this dark world, at times we face loss. But in the Lord all loss is gain. He promised to deliver us. And sometimes deliverance means parting ways with people or things that we once considered vital. Taste the absolute freedom of giving your cloak to him who wants to take your tunic. Empty yourself. Seek God, instead of money, power and fame. Otherwise expect these things to entangle you as their ransom, and devour your soul.
