“If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.” MALACHI 2:2

olomon said that fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Purposely or not, if we are not mindful of our ways, we pollute the altar of our God by letting the corruption of the world infiltrate our spirit. The Word says even our blessings can become a curse if we do not keep Him first, and honor Him with all of our heart. Fleshly commitments, if they ever mean anything, seldom imply giving our all. From relationships to business, many skim through life expecting ninety percent while offering ten. To support their smokescreen of success, some manage to secure vast empires of earthly resources. When they accept Christ and the Holy Ghost begins to work in their spirit, truth opens their eyes. Standing naked before God they realize that their commitment has been insufficient, and their offerings, blemished. If the flesh senses even the slightest indication of cheating, how much more does our Lord knows the contents of our heart!
A curse may be the most effective measure to stir up a man from the slumber of his unrighteous ways. If we want to be blessed we must learn to walk in obedience to the rules of the kingdom. Tithes and offerings are a small price to pay in comparison to the joy of living in His presence. God does not expect us to give anything we do not possess; nonetheless, the first portion of our increase belongs to Him. As soon as we engrave His Word in our heart, dedicating our all to Him, and confessing with our mouth the glory of His name, our Lord will move in our lives in amazing ways. Our responsibility as believers is to honor Him with everything we have and everything we are.
